Fishing near New Quay in West Wales........... 

Ceredigion has facilities for many types of fishing. Within just a few miles of New Quay there is beach and boat fishing, also both coarse and trout fishing in both rivers and lakes. Bait and tackle is available locally and several fisheries can also provide equipment. Local Fisheries are shown below (in alphabetical order) 

Roach

 

  • Llanarth Coarse Fishery - has a 2 acre pond with Carp, Tench, Bream and Roach and another mixed coarse pond. It is just off the A487 south of the filling station at Llanarth.  Bait is available on site and charges are £5 per day.    01545-580598.

  • Llanerchaeron:  East of Aberaeron. 2 miles of fishing on the River Aeron. Permits from National Trust Office  01570 - 471034

  • Fron Farm Fishery, Bontnewydd, Bronnant. Four lakes, one for coarse angling and three for Trout and Atlantic Salmon. Full disabled access to the lower lake and night fishing available. Open all year .

  • Nine Oaks Fishery, Oakford 01545 580482 / 07976 283958 3 Trout pools stocked with Rainbows, Blues and Tiger Trout from 2lbs. It has 2 superb Coarse lakes and 1 well stocked Novices pool.

  • Rhydlewis Trout Fishery: 3 acre lake and onsite smokery -   01239 - 851224

  • Teglan Fishery      01570 471 115 is at  Ciliau Aeron (on the main road from Aberaeron to Lampeter) . They have 2 lakes as well as river fishing on the Aeron. £6 per person per day. Permits required. They also have disabled access.

Sea Fishing from New Quay

There is no permit required for sea fishing. Bait is available at the Sports shop in Aberaeron (by the traffic lights on the A487).

THE ENVIRONMENT AGENCY LICENSING SCHEME

Anyone aged 12 or over who fishes for salmon, trout, freshwater fish or eels in ales requires an Environment Agency Rod Fishing Licence. The price of a full licence for coarse fish and non-migratory trout is £19.00; a concessionary price is available at £9.50. Short term licences for eight and five day periods, are available for £6.50 and £2.50 respectively. A full annual licence for salmon and migratory trout costs £58.00, with concessionary licences at £29.00. Short term licences for one or eight days are available for £5.50 and £16.50 respectively.
